Ted launched his financial career in 2003 with Merrill Lynch’s Global Wealth Management division. There he served as a Certified Financial Manager and a Senior Financial Advisor. In 2009, Ted resigned from Merrill Lynch to become an independent business owner and a Private Wealth Advisor with Raymond James. Ted is the founder and managing member of Cape Henry Private Wealth Group, a boutique financial advisory practice catering to high net worth individuals, families and businesses, as well as the advisors who serve them. At Cape Henry, Ted focuses on financial planning and investment management strategies for his clients, the overall management of the company and new advisor acquisition.
Ted is a graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2003 and played Shortstop on the Baseball team. He holds the Series 24 securities license and acts as a Branch Manager for Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., Member FINRA/SIPC. He has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies. Other licenses he holds include the Series 7, Series 66, and life and health insurance licenses. He is licensed to do business in many states across the USA and services clients from coast to coast.
Ted’s approach to financial advising begins with the end in mind, focusing first on his client’s goals and objectives and specifically, what they are trying to accomplish with their financial resources. Using the Advisory Process, Ted works with his clients on an ongoing basis to develop and manage their financial plan and their customized investment strategy. His background and experience have led him to use modern portfolio theory principles and the Endowment Model, which he believes are the best ways to manage significant wealth over the long term.
Outside of business, Ted is a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, where he lives with his wife, Lori, and their three children, Gracie, Benjamin and Abbie. They are members of London Bridge Baptist Church where they volunteer in various respects, are actively involved in Youth Groupand a weekly Small Group, and attend Sunday services. Ted and Lori have had various roles with the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry throughout the years and still remain active supporters of that ministry. Ted is also an avid golfer, enjoys playing music, surfing, and taking family vacations.
